Helping or Hurting?

A couple of questions for WPTA ABC21 and their contemporaries in local media.

Do you think it helps your audience or hurts your audience when your newscasts, or shows (as you call them) repeatedly show pictures of empty store shelves and long lines of shoppers (often of stores not even in our area)? Do you think that helps or hurts your audience deal with the obstacles and challenges they face?

Do you think it helps your audience or hurts your audience when you create and use imposing and menacing graphics/slides in your coverage? The bold letters, the use of the triggering color red...do you think that helps calm and inform the public?

One more question: Wouldn't it be more helpful and reassuring to concentrate more of your efforts on giving your audience useful and reassuring information from the experts and local authorities, and concentrate less on creating confusion, mistrust, and unrest among the people you claim to serve?

Asking for a friend.
