Maybe It's A Mistake, Maybe It's Not

Moving along from contentious Council meetings and former County commissioners reciting fairytales......let's try something really fun.

The kids in the WOWO news room have been at it again, misidentifying a local school while recognizing them for a good deed.

Uh, did you mean INDIAN Village school?

Now, before we jump to the conclusion that the kids at WOWO screwed this up, please consider this:

Fort Wayne Community Schools worked very hard to demonize the North Side REDSKINS nickname...shaming then into accepting the new, politically-correct nickname, the Legends.

Could it be that FWCS has quietly renamed Indian Village to Indiana Village? Maybe the name changed in the middle of the night at New Years, and no one told us, in order to prevent an uproar.

Hey.....stranger things have happened when Fort Wayne media and FWCS are left to their own devices.

Multiple Guess

Here's a perfect example why the mass audience is confused.

Our friends at 21 Alive seem a little conflicted as well. So, the Maven will ask the question:

When it comes being certain that the Ash Skyline project will include the residential tower as part of the project,

Is Mayor Tom

A)Nearly certain?
B) Virtually certain?
C) Somewhat certain?
D) Kinda, sorta, maybe certain?
E) Not at all certain?

Not long ago, the Maximum Supreme Commander of the Fort Wayne Community School board, Field Marshall Mark GiaQuinta, blamed ignorant, misinformed and uninformed voters for FWCS's transportation budget shortfall (the goofball voters voted for lower taxes). Now, one can see why voters are ignorant or confused. Media is doing their part.....

Not Letting A Good Crisis Go To Waste

Studying the Media also includes examining how others use the Media to their advantage.
Something as simple as a power failure that causes the early dismissal of school kids can be exploited to further one's public relations goals.
Fort Wayne Community Schools spokesperson Krista Stockman deserves credit for spinning an early dismissal announcement into another cry for more capital improvement money for Fort Wayne's ailing school infrastructure.

The highlighted line is a stroke of PR genius, constantly reminding the voters of FWCS's need for more money. And, of course, the media simply repeats what they are told, and never questions FWCS. It's a cozy relationship to say the least.

Social (Media) Responsibility

An alert Facebook friend spotted this today. The Maven has been led to believe that this is the Official Fort Wayne Community Schools Facebook page.
Yes, in the corner it really does say "Why The F**K", and the Maven has obscured, somewhat, the obscenity.

A closer look will show that this was posted during the 11am hour yesterday, Monday, December 16th, so it's been on the site for a while'.

The moral of this embarrassment for the holier-than-thou administrators of Fort Wayne's most notorious school system is, that if you are going to participate in Social Media, there also comes a responsibility to police your area.

Of course, there could be more offensive things on the page, I suppose...like a gun, a Christian Cross, or the American flag.
