Blah Blah?

It would appear that 21Alive isn't too excited about the downtown riverfront development plan.

For once, the Maven agrees. 

They Either Don't Know or Don't Care

The Maven seems to have picked up a trolling admirer who asks "how come you always pick on WOWO news?"

The easy answer is, it's easy. 

Like this:  

Kids, the decades old, well-known anti-war peace sign symbol is not interchangeable with protesting in general. Read the story, it was a thoughtful protest about violence in society, not an anti-war protest. The Maven knows you needed a graphic for your templated news pages, but this really makes you look ignorant. 

And the bastion of journalism, the Journal Gazette seems to have left something out of their story about a car show closing streets in New Haven. 

As hip and relevant as our traditional news outlet attempt to be, they always fail. In the case of the J-G, technology can be a mean mistress.

Suffering News Stories

One question for the kids in the WOWO news room:

How can one "suffer" if one is dead? 

When writing a news story using WOWO's "paint by numbers" templated format, logic is not allowed to get in the way of a mediocre story. 

The Maven thought stuff like this went away when the lip gloss lady left the building.

And for those who ask.....THIS is how local media trivializes the murders on the SE side of town. Death and dying are just routine for the kids in the news room.
