You Gotta Be Kiddin' Me

For years the Maven has thought that English was a second language to the writers at INC.

Apparently, we can include the writers at the News Sentinel.

The attached story from the internet below contains the following statement: "The highway was closed Friday afternoon after a crash that loosed a number of cows on the highway". Please note the new verb "loosed".

The Maven wonders when the schools discontinued the study of English in our public schools.

Offender vs Defender .... whatever!

It is no wonder that the people of Fort Wayne are chided for being ignorant. The reason is easy to understand....we get it from our media.

Thanks to angrywhiteboy.org for passing this along to the Maven.

Apparently those who write the news at Indiana's NewsCenter must be products of a public education.

Please note the paragraph that's highlighted. In the Maven's humble opinion the copy should read "public defender" as opposed to "public offender". The only public "offenders" we can recall sit on the Fort Wayne City Council...but, that's another story for another time.

Here's a closeup:

It's a shame, a cryin' shame, that the hard work that INC has put into this story, would now be tarnished because of a glitch like this. Of course, INC is probably banking that no one in their audience would catch this error.
